Needing something with both beauty and function, this Kebony bench serves not only as a place to rest, but also an outdoor storage unit. The bench was creatively designed to conceal spa equipment and pool maintenance supplies in an inconspicuous manner.
The spa was cut into the property's natural stone outcropping and utilizes quarried stone to create a leveled deck for the pool. Wanting to add contrast, while still respecting the natural materials theme, Kebony wood was selected to build the bench as an enhanced, real wood product. The architect, Vincent Lapera, specifically liked Kebony for its durability, graceful weathering characteristics and the fact that the wood will not warp as the humidity changes.
The bench was sealed with a Penofin wood finish to maintain the natural brown color. Other products used include: balusters from Pacific Column Co., fiberglass spa from Viking Pool and stone stamped concrete by Concord Pools.
