At Rhoda, Hong Kong restauranteur Yenn Wong has created a stylish and contemporary eatery with an interior inspired by the food served there. English chef Nathan Green serves menu that is a balance of charcoal grill and smoked food, reflected in the charred timber paneling. The restaurant recently won the 2017 Restaurant and Bar Design Awards in the category Asia Restaurant.
The designer Joyce Wang is renowned for her use of brutal colourism, often using extraordinary materials and textures throughout her projects. Wang selected Charred Kebony by Shou Sugi Ban for this project due to its distinct character and its impressive combination of beauty and sustainability. The crackled finish developed by Exterior Solutions Ltd is a reflection of the traditional Japanese methods in a technologically advanced style.
