Kebony and CustomBeach installed more than 900sq. ft. of environmentally friendly Kebony wood decking for the Miami Science Barge, a floating urban ecological laboratory and public environmental education centre. The barge, which launched in April 2016 in Biscayne Bay, will provide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) students with the opportunity to explore new green technologies and marine life. Welcoming students aged 6-18 the barge will provide guided field trips, tours and workshops.

The serving boards were originally created as an upcycled product to be manufactured by social entrepreneurship startup Moving Mamas, which aims to create work opportunities for immigrant mothers. The startup’s concept involves mothers manufacturing new products out of partners’ sustainable by-products to be sold to businesses as promotional gifts. In late October 2015, Tommy Bahama Restaurant Bar & Store opened in Waikiki on the island of Oahu. The three-story space features retail on the first floor, dining on the second floor, a rooftop bar and lounge -- and Kebony throughout. Beautiful Kebony wood was used as flooring for the restaurant and rooftop lounge, as well as for the steps on the exquisitely crafted spiral staircase that connects the two levels.

The Villa Circuitus was built to meet passive house requirements, with strict environmental demands in terms of design and construction materials. Both Simone Kreutzer and Tommy Wesslund are certified passive house experts with special expertise in energy and ventilation, knowledge they brought to the design of their latest project. They were the creative minds behind this project and cooperated with Nina Sandahl from SAJT Arkitektstudio to design the bespoke home, Sweden’s first circular passive house.

Composer and musician Håvard Lund has embarked upon an innovative project to create an artist’s retreat on Northern Norway’s beautiful and dramatic coastline. The retreat is named "Fordypningsrommet", the Norwegian word for ‘room for deeper studies’, as Lund aims at inspiring artists to return to nature and deepen their creative pursuits. TYIN tegnestue together with Rintala Eggertsson Architects designed this project and chose Kebony character for cladding.

A distinctive Edwardian home in north Aberdeenshire was recently given a new lease of life with the addition of an extension inspired by contemporary minimal design. Kebony has found a new home among the Turks and Caicos Islands in the form of a custom-built beach hut. Located on the northwest coast of the Providenciales Island, the beach hut is the first of its kind to sit on the shoreline of the Amanyara Resort(link is external), one of the world’s most premier vacation destinations.

The designers, Arkitema Architects, worked in a close collaboration with the school’s management and teaching teams to ensure the space was practical and ergonomic for both the primary classes and the after school activities. The children at Gentofte school age from 5-9 years, as such the building has been completed with special features such as sliding walls that also function as writing boards and can be easily operated by the children.

At the former Athlete’s Village, Get Living London unveiled an alfresco ‘Living Room’ for East Village at the front of its Welcome Office. The scheme, in partnership with The Edible Bus Stop®, saw huge wooden furniture, such as oversized wooden armchairs and sofas brought to the area and surrounded by enormous orange plant pots in which fig trees and vines have been planted. The furniture is made from Kebony wood, our sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood.

The team from Stein Hamre arkitektkontor said: “The plant has been designed to reflect the characteristics of the landscape, which is located on the river bed in a clearing at the edge of a spruce forest. The main inspiration for the design was the verticality and the irregularity of the spruce trees. The Kebony wood will acquire a grey patina gradually over time as it interacts with the elements. The durability and low-maintenance of the wood lends itself to remote locations.”

Located in the car free town of Braunwald, Canton Glarus, 1300 metres high in the Swiss mountains, lies the charming Märchenhotel Bellevue (German for "Fairy Tale Hotel"). The hotel’s infinity pool, which commands a view of the nearby funicular and the Glarus Alps mountainous scenery, is situated on the 160m² terrace, decked with Kebony clear wood.

Along the 5 km beach promenade between Ahlbeck and Bansin in Usedom, Germany, a total of five beach walks were renewed with Kebony character decking. This "Stone House" or "steinboligen" mountain cabin in Finse, Norway is located in a rather remote area of the country. Due to the harsh weather conditions, there is only a time window of 2-3 months when it is possible to combine logistics with an acceptable climate for outdoor work. Their steel frames ensure durability, whilst the Kebony character cladding and Kebony clear bench furniture compliment the natural beauty of Bexhill. Over time Kebony has developed a beautiful silver-grey patina. Performance maintained, beauty enhanced.
