This sports kindergarten is designed by Danish firm KANT and accommodates a total of 154 children.

Its vision is to bring to life both sustainability and space for play and movement. The sports kindergarten is a pilot project within the certification scheme Green Building Council Denmark (DGBC) putting focus on material choice, durability and assessment of lifetime costs.

Therefore, sustainable principles have been on the agenda throughout the planning and construction process from the initial idea paper and construction program to execution. Kebony Clear cladding was chosen due to its green credentials as it carries the Nordic Ecolabel “Swan” and is FSC®-certified. In addition, Kebony is highly durable and completely safe and toxin-free.

“We have created a building that is consistent in its material choice, which is robust and actively relates to its users. It must be able to withstand being used. In addition, it has been an ambition to put pedagogy and movement at the center – let the architecture express this focus”, says Uffe Bay-Smidt, partner at KANT.
