How to Install Inline Boards with Butt Joints when using Step-Clip for Kebony

Inline Boards with Butt Joints

  1. When using Step-Clip for Kebony, each board must be secured across a minimum of
two spans. This means that each board must be secured to a minimum of three joists.
  2. If your deck requires a butt joint, you will need to add a sister joist to accommodate a full
    Step-Clip strip for each board.
  3. The sister and primary joist both need to be at least 24” long in order to hold a full Step-Clip strip each.
  4. The end of the first board must not exceed the width of either the primary or sistered joist. That way each board will be secured by the full width of a strip.
