Installing the Kebony Deck Board as Stair Treads
Two rows of Kebony Deck Boards will fit perfectly on most stair treads. We recommend using a double-grooved board as the inner row and the single-grooved deck board as the outer row.
- Cut the double-grooved board to length and place against the riser leaving a ¼ inch gap.
- Using #8 Stainless Steel screws or the Pro Plug System for Kebony, put two screws on each joist keeping the screws 1 inch from the sides of the board. When face-fastening, always pre-drill.
- Place the single-grooved board against the double-grooved with the groove facing towards the riser and leave a ¼ inch gap. This should leave a small overhang of about an inch on the tread.
- Using #8 Stainless Steel screws or the Pro Plug System for Kebony, put two screws on each joist keeping the screws 1 inch from the sides of the board. When face-fastening, always pre-drill.
- If you want to hide the grooved profile on the side of the stair tread, you can use a picture frame board.
