The Dirhami Nature Resort, nestled in a pine forest in Estonia’s Lääne County, is a peaceful retreat where architecture and nature intertwine harmoniously. Designed by Mari Hunt and Helmi Langsepp of MARIHUNT architects, the complex blends seamlessly into its surroundings, thanks to the Kebony wood used for the buildings and exterior fittings.
The architectural style reflects the subtle transformations of the natural environment, with buildings staggered to follow the rhythm of the forest. The design, both minimalist and contemporary, is rooted in traditional Nordic aesthetics, and the use of Kebony wood accentuates this organic integration into the landscape.
Dirhami Nature Resort was nominated in two categories for the Best Wooden Architecture 2024 award, and won the Raitwood award for the best application of wood. The jury highlighted its integration into the landscape, the choice of sustainable materials and the natural aesthetic evolution of its façade as decisive criteria.
