In Sundbybergs, Stockholm, the Klippan preschool has been renovated to enhance the learning environment for its pupils. Klippan preschool aims to stimulate and inspire its pupils, to increase their knowledge and learning, a vision which was significant in guiding the renovation project. The preschool has been adapted for 6 classes that will accommodate 120 children in total, supported by 24 teaching staff and kitchen staff. The redevelopment includes an extension with a new entrance hall, lift, goods reception, kitchen and refuse room as well as revised interior floor plans.
Architects at Marge Arkitekter chose a mix of Kebony Character and Clear to give the school a beautiful new facade. Kebony was chosen for its sustainable credentials as it is FSC-certified and carries the Nordic Ecolabel Swan. Windows have been enlarged and fitted with new shading devices. The resulting façade has the aspect of a restrained construction in natural materials in a coherent colour scheme. A contemporary interpretation of the original intention. Kebony is highly durable and weather resistant with an impressive 30 year warranty, meaning the school to inspire future generations of children for years to come.
