The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research
The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), a German government-funded research institute, addresses crucial scientific questions in the fields of global change, climate impacts, and sustainable development. In 2016, during the summer, an entirely new and large terrace was built to create additional space and open up the building.
The terrace is connected to the training room and is primarily used during the warm months of the year. This stylish and beautifully curved terrace was covered with sustainable Kebony Character boards and the building’s façade is in larch which has been flamed. The project architect was Fritz Protzmann, architect at Büro EXTERN, a specialist architectural garden and landscaping firm.
